The part you seem to be missing is that lower cost does not equate to medical care costing less, it simply reduces the financial burden by increasing the other forms of burden it incurs, in the case of the US vs canada for example, the amount of time you spend waiting for non emergency care is a decent example to point to.

Average wait time for non emergency care by appointment in canada, as of 2022, was just over 27 weeks, or over 6 and a half months.

In contrast the average wait time in the US for the same process of care was 26 days.

"Free healthcare" might cost you less money, but it costs you more time in exchange, and unlike money, time is a finite resource, once you spend it, you can't get it back.
