Pyrrhic victory is now the best outcome for russia.
Russia's last moment of real victory was to force a cease fire when they had the donbas and landbridge to crimea.
They should have told ukraine that they had enough back then and call for a ceasefire.

The point of NATO aid wasn't to help Ukraine win. They were never going to win. They were hopelessly outnumbered from day 1.

The point of the weapons and tech was to make this extremely costly for Russia, both for their civil and military infrastructures, and that has been an unmitigated success. Russia is stuck in an endless grind of a war, with no real final victory in sight.

They will, eventually, win. But it should have been so much easier for them. Partly that's due to the rampant corruption within Russia's military, but the NATO aid was a significant portion of it. The only part of this Russia survived well was the sanctions, those barely did shit because of how insular Russia's economy was to begin with.

NATO basically declawed Russia and showed the world how frail and corrupt their military actually is, all for a fraction of a fraction of a normal defense budget.
