I have three sons. They are well behaved and I've never had to hit them. I punch them and play around with them, but if they misbehave bitching them out seems to work best.

If you’re kid is not listening to the point where you feel you need to strike them, then it’s either one of two things;
1. They’re too young to understand why what they’re doing is bad, so they’re just doing it to do it, or
2. They’re old enough to understand why it’s bad and they don’t care
In both cases there’s no reason to hit them because in the first scenario they simply don’t understand, and in the second you’ve failed as a parent

Yes, but it should really only be a last resort when the peaceful methods don't work. Some people only respond to violence.

The family lineage is full of pretty reasonable folk. It's definitely a heritable trait so it's easy to reason with the children. We are fortunate in this manner, but the dumb ones have died in the mountains by being idiots so it probably got selected out over many generations.

Me and my sister were hit as children, I can't say it traumatised me but now it seems pointless, her children have never been hit and they behave impeccably. I think it's a crutch for lazy parenting and is unnecessary.

Depends how often you do it. You are much stronger than them, so you should avoid it because you need restraint when you are mad. Boys need to know you can fuck them up even if you don't. I'm pro threatening physical violence because you don't need to hit them to scare them. A lot of the kids that didn't get hit ever grew up to be pussies that run their mouth without fear. I'm usually not for it because you get carried away when you are angry and can hurt them. Most humans in general never truly give respect to others if they havent been dominated physically in some way. Kids don't realized that they are avoiding some aspect of growth because they don't hang around older kids that bully small children. It is a balance

This is true. There have been a handful of times when my sons were really out of control and I'd just pick them up with one hand and hold them against the ceiling. It IMMEDIATELY calms them down.

Most parents don't understand this because they are usually scared of what other people would think if they saw them doing it. Unfortunately, society punishes parents for giving discipline like this. It gets undermined if any bystander or your wife judges it. Your child will process it differently. I would rather my son learn that violence is a consequence from me rather than be embarrassed in public in front of his peers.

No because I personally grew larger and stronger than my dad at age 12.
If he was always beating me than I would’ve beat him so I think that’s a bad idea to let’s parents beat their children because than the children are going to beat their parents.
