If we wanted to remove American influence, we would have to begin with the intelligence services, especially military intelligence.
But why would we want to do that? We have shared enemies and common goals.
In Norway there is a massive radar facility that monitors the icbm arsenal in Koala, it made us a first strike target for Russia and was built at the behest of the intelligence services and not a single debate was ever had about it. The military even classified the Russian training exercises that were mock bombing them with nukes, to avoid the debate.
But who cares we would want the Americans to have those capabilities and our political system would never approve anyway.
America is important. Without their actions during the last cold war, Europe would have fallen to communism and become a part of the Russian sphere of influence.
We shouldn't be too mad at American influence; NATO is like the top 1% of wealth in the world now. You can argue about industrial espionage and the like but when shit hits the fan im glad the Americans have enabled our militaries.
