yeah it'll be a bit chilly sometimes for sure then. any chance of covered parking maybe? should be fine if you have a decent sleeping bag and blankets etc of course. hope the car battery will be ok.

oh no, dont be silly. its not going to be super comfy all the time thats for sure but you just need a good sleeping bag and some extra poofy quilts to put over it. on the really cold nights id probably idle the car for several hours to keep some heat flowing but ive turned my truck off for the whole night when it was -25c to -30c parked up in Calgary AB before it it was fine.

Had a high paying union job that has never recovered from covid. Union helps illegals enter my trade and files paperwork to prevent them being deported. There wasn't enough steady work prior to them doing this. All American born citizens of Latin heritage immediately become foremen due to being bilingual. All crews now primarily speak Spanish now. Moved back home after my dad got cancer, but there's no work to save up for another place and there doesn't appear to be a future for me in my trade. Going from 100k to <30 can barely keep my car payment. Tfw you realize the career you built up and traded your body in exchange for doesn't need you and you have to find a new career in early 40s. Fuck i hate this world.

Maybe try to find a cheap air bnb near work, or use furnished finders, a cheap hotel or something at least some of the time?

I mean it's a bit of a waste of money but if you can get one that allows you to use a kitchen you can frozen pizza max to make up for the cost since you won't have to live on fast food and take out which I assume you are probably doing.

gas isnt very expensive. just idle the car for a few hours in the middle of the night when its getting very cold. in a really cold period everyone does this anyway, even if they dont live in their car. you should see what its like in any Saskatchewan town during jan and feb. parking lots everywhere full of idling trucks and cars all day and night.

Anonymous (ID: sjlsl/+z) Canada No.518818625
oh, another thing you can do anon anon would be to get a cheap 1000w inverter or something like that and use it to power a low wattage kettle. boil some water up while your engine is running before bed then load up some hot water bottles. you could maybe source the water from a restaurant or from work or something you might be able to work out instead of getting the inverter.

dont run the inverter if the engine is off btw.

I have a decently paying job - but it is damn near killing me. I saved up a decent amount of money and i think im just going to quit. It has been 6 years of 90 hour weeks with rotating sleep schedule with no consistent sleep schedule. I am 18 hours drive away from my home state with friends and family.

I hope i make the correct decision
