The progressive era was a conglomerate of social justice groups that came from all walks of life. Upper middle class liberal elites with a wide range of education and reading worked with Christian reformists on things like child labor laws, workers rights, etc. Unions also worked with these groups on shared goals. Teddy, FDR, etc. were all part of that. What made Teddy so unique was how he was initially much more right wing when he first entered into politics, but as time went on, he became corporate America's worst enemy. He broke up the trusts and monopolies left and right, and the business elite hated him for it. But he didn't come to those conclusions overnight, he just read daily. He read a book a day, made it a point to go outside regularly, he was adventurous, and he was a war hero. He was one of the last presidents to lead men directly into combat. Teddy had balls bigger than the entire Pentagon combined.
