Well, definitions on what a "celebration" is seems to vary here. So let me very specifically and objectively put down what actually happens during halloween here in Norway, and then people can decide on their own.
- in october the chinese dropship chains (our walmart equivalents) will stock some chinese plastic halloween knick knacks, plastic skulls and pumpkins etc.
- there are no traditions pertaining to halloween here whatsoever, no customs, no regular events
- there is no halloween dinner or regular party or anything like that, no established halloween themed social gathering
- no one says anything out of the ordinary, or wishes each other happy halloween or anything like that
- no one decorates the outside of their house, you can walk through the entire town and not see a single decoration or a pumpkin lantern or anything like that
- no one decorates the inside of their house either, you might see some of those plastic walmart skulls at college age parties (parties they would have regardless each friday.)
- no children go trick or treating
- basically nothing at all happens and for 99% of the population it's a completely normal day and you don't notice anything special whatsoever
So if you think this adds up to Norway being a country that "celebrates halloween," then fine. That's your definition of a celebration I guess. I don't think Norway celebrates halloween.
