Marriages fail now because we're open to allowing them to fail. Most of you won't remember, but there was a time when divorce was considered such an embarrassment and a shame that you didn't do it without VERY good reason. Not just "I'm bored" or "I don't really like him/her that much", it was for serious domestic abuse, or disloyalty. It was easier to stay married and slightly unhappy than it was to risk it all and get divorced. MOST marriages were like this, marriages of convenience rather than love.

Women in particular were almost forced to stay with their husbands, they had nowhere else to go, the man owned the house, their families didn't want them coming back and living with them, they'd be the gossip of the town and a shame to everyone they knew. It was also considered embarrassing for a woman to remain unmarried beyond 25ish, so many would rush into marriage just to hit socially-imposed benchmarks.

Then you'd have kids, and that basically cemented people into the marriage forever. You stayed together for the kids, and by the time they were old enough, you learnt how to deal with the loveless but safe marriage. Too old by then to change things.

Jump to now, and not only do women have their own jobs/careers, and greater control over their reproduction, people in general don't want kids, either. You've removed the vast majority of reasons people had to stay together. There's not really much social fallout from divorce, either. It's common. Fuck, people see "celebrities" do it every other year, there's no sense of marriage having permanence.

Which brings me to the biggest issue I still see today with "relationships"; people not seeing them for what they should be. You SHOULD be looking for someone who is your equal, someone who you enjoy being around, can share experiences with, have discussions with, and who puts you first (because you're also putting them first).

I wasn't "red pilled" or as well read on conservative/reactionary ideas at the time but I'd already concluded that way of thinking was wrong and wanted to just get a normal job, move to a smaller town, buy a house, have kids etc.
I had a lot of discussions with her over 3.5 years and thought I was changing her mind but in the end she decided nope, her career was more important and abruptly broke up with me when she got accepted into a PhD program in America.

The lesson I took from that is don't try to change people. If a woman tells me she's into woke stuff and she prioritizes career over family I'm going to take her at her word.
If I were to try again I'd look for a woman who's priorities and worldview were at least in the same ballpark as mine.
