If you’re just getting into the surface level of what demons are, how they interact within this reality, where they came from, and what their purpose is, I would start with interviews from picrel for a baseline. Secondary sources would be podcasts involving discussion on ancient demons and origins in scripture and from the Catholic exorcism eras.

The actuality of demons being real proves Gods existence and the Bible becomes historical rather than the veil of illegitimate mythology it is portrayed in its current edition. As always, older is better and understanding of demons getting control of church authority and doctrine will undoubtedly contaminate its ability to tell the truth. They whisper to everyone, all the time. People don't stop to think about those 'random' thoughts and normalise them, that's how often they whisper to humans.

You would be surprised how many people exist in this life with those whispers echoing behind their eyes, but they force a smile and pretend not to have them.

The Romans were seeing exactly what the Jews saw or the Christians saw or the Pagans or the Hindus, these metaphysical creatures are perceived by every culture. Don't focus on the human language or the names given to them.

For example 'Angels' are the theologically correct name for demons. Just like Romans mythos of Daemons, Angels are either pure and protective (still aligned with God's grace) or evil and vicious (In a fallen state). The modern word 'demon' refers to a fallen angel.

It does not matter what word is used, angel, demon, Daemon, djinn, spirit, whatever. The point is it's a metaphysical being that hates virtue, hates the creator, and especially creation and is bent on making sure the human is destroyed. Preferably by his own hand with a little influence.
