I think somewhere in the New Testament, it says that people born in lands without the Law will be judged without the Law. So if there was a Pagan group in Sub-Saharan Africa or South East Asia and they never heard of Jesus, then they will be judged without the Biblical law stuff. I dont believe that an individual's lack of knowledge, or even their religious preference damns them to Hell. I firmly believe the Lord loves all of us, regardless of our upbringing or what we've learned in life and what we choose to believe. He isn't petty like that, mankind is. I think that you can worship whatever you want in ignorance and you'll still be judged based on who you were as a person and what was in your heart.
I choose to love and worship Christ above all others because I feel as though I know better, and I believe that he loves us. All of the petty rules about hoops you have to jump through to get into heaven were put there by humans who wish to control populations and undermine freewill.
Be good to your fellow living beings, try to hold on to the love in your heart, do not seek vengeance, but do not be weak either. Learn lessons through every interaction and be the strong men and women you all need to be to protect your loved ones from those who do you harm, and do your best to maintain positivity.
The Lord is not a petty tyrant, but I believe he will punish the wicked. Not out of spite or hate, but out of the same love a parent would when their child goes astray.
Coming back to God of your own volition, and in your own way and not through fear mongering is very important, I think.
