No we don’t, not since the ACA. We get fined on our tax returns if we don’t have health insurance for the given tax year. The health plans that are actually affordable and available to normal people are nearly always catastrophic too. I.e., insurance doesn’t kick in and pay for anything until a threshold of 6-10k has been spent at the minimum. I had good insurance when the ACA became law. The next year my employer said our plan was considered “Cadillac” and subject to that excise tax. So, my employer pushed us all into catastrophic plans. I could no longer afford to go to the doctor so I stopped going

Getting caught with an illegal firearm gets you a slap on the wrist. In the US that's a felony and many years in prison. Getting a legal firearm in the more corrupt Eastern European countries is much more simple, you just walk in with money and you're done.

And yet, we have universal healthcare, public school with healthy lunch, cheap or free daycare, and with tax planning the max you pay taxes is around 30%.

They repealed that provision of the ACA in 2017 and it was made effective in 2019. You're perfectly allowed to not have insurance in most US states as some Democrat states like NJ, CA, etc. require you to have it by state law.

How is that relevant to Obamacare not requiring insurance? Insurance is hit miss, some employers are terrific, my current employer covers 75% of my insurance cost on HDHP and pay me money into my HSA every month. I pay the sum total of approximately 4-6k a year between premiums and deductible in a bad year with a lot costs, my max out of pocket is 6,500 which would be catastrophic incident. This is far cheaper than I would pay in nearly any European countries in taxes. Some employers suck ass, my brother owns his business and pays a shitload for marketplace (ACA) insurance for dog shit coverage.
