I remember first moving to Florida and being deathly afraid of hurricanes because of everything I’d see on the news.
Well hurricane time rolled around and I started panicking didn’t know if I need to get plywood food water etc.
went to the neighbor and asked what they were doing? And he’s like
“..nothing?”
I said what do you mean, and he said the hurricanes are never as bad as the news makes them out to be, lived there for decades and not once has a hurricane ever caused damage or done anything catastrophic, he said if a hurricane that big was coming you’d know.
So I trusted the fucker and went home, and sure enough hurricane day came and we got like a mild storm, I turn on the news and I see a news anchor being filmed at a shopping plaza literally like 10 minutes down the fucking road standing in the rain talking about how bad the storm was and how everyone was stocking up on supplies and what not, when in reality they were just going about their business shopping like normal it just happened to be raining, big eye opener and haven’t really watched the news since
