trump has sent $40 billion to the argies in the past two weeks. they're major competitors of the us agri sector which is also trumps base. whats the play here?

It is somewhat of a forced alliance since he is supposedly a right-wing leader or whatever. So Trump might do this as a sort of promotion of a seemingly friendly government that is nearby. Some think it may be to counter China trying to take the continent. But most chink schemes backfire so I kind of doubt this is suddenly a critical point. There also was a preexisting interest in Argentina because it was "the nation that failed against all odds". All in all, I think he may be experimenting with nation building. If this succeeds, maybe there will be further attempts with other South American nations. I do think a long-term American goal is to have the entire Americas be friendly and allied. It could make us quite a lot more powerful if it works out. Although I'm not sure why we really need more power, but I suppose it is always nice to have more.
