So, by my reckoning the "special military operation" is probably 4th largest war in Russia's history at this point, in terms of the number of men mobilized, and in terms of casualties suffered. If this war lasts another 2 years, there is a very real chance it will involve more Russians under arms than the Russian Civil War, and very likely more military casualties. However since most of the fighting is in Ukraine, Russian civilians haven't really been victims in this war, which is actually very unusual for major Russian Wars.

Official Chinese trade data shows that Beijing has allowed a sharp increase in the components that are enabling Russian manufacturers to build fiber-optic drones, which are operated through superthin cables of glass, the kind traditionally used for high-speed internet, that unspool midflight for distances of 12 miles or more. These drones are increasingly used by Russia because they are less susceptible to interception.
