None of my advice would work out as I got very lucky and basically won the lottery. Spent most of my life as an alcoholic and hated my life. Went to rehab, cleaned up, government gave me an apartment for being 'disabled' and previously a homeless substance abuser.

I signed up for math classes at local uni, since I loved it and had a bachelors in math from before, and now just got into the masters there. I have no real plans or goals, just to keep doing math. I get a stipend and disability from the government (so I don't have to TA). I literally just get to do my passion all day everyday.

I don't suspect I'll ever have a family though. Too old and too poor for that.

I'm gonna be pretty selective about jobs. I'm guaranteed housing and a bit of money from the government for life. I'm not so sure about jobs. I definitely got autism or something, maybe schizotypal, I have a low tolerance for dealing with work-social bullshit and most people see through me quite quickly that I'm not going to humour them or be chit chatty, so HR roasties deny me before I ever meet a real tech team.

I'd work for a hedge fund but from what I hear they only hire out of ivy league schools unless the person is brilliant.

When you're young and lack perspective, one way you can evaluate the interests you take, the positions you adopt, the views you have, the things you do, etc. is to look at the company you are keeping. I pissed of members of a organized crime group by reporting one of them to the police for attacking me on the street. Well they had a guy there and he gave them my address. They've been harrassing me for a year and after they learned that I make a shit ton of money they've given me scopolamine and tried to extort a sum that would put me in debt for the rest of my life. I have some data that they would probably like to be kept private and they don't know it yet.
It's extremely hard to prove anything because they use plausible deniability really good. For example the sent me a number in a package that was supposedly a mistake. Well that wouldn't be so weird if I did not get a second package that was a "mistake" at my new address(same city).

Read a lot. It doesn't really matter what you read, just read a lot. Look up words you don't understand and reread in context. Become obsessed with a highly specialized area that deals in the physical world that you can do 10+ hours a day without killing yourself, and seek out a mentor until you can make it on your own. The mentor part genuinely sucks at times and you will but it beats the hell out of building it from the ground up. There's a negative to this too. By being strong you get a ton of unwanted attention. No matter what you do people won't leave you alone.

My advice is try and find a good balance between strength and politeness. If you get too strong people will resent you and find ways to abuse and use you. If you are too nice and weak people will just walk all over you for their own egotistical gain. I've been on both sides because when i was strong i got backstabbed and then i got weak and got abused.

I would add that there's an even more narrow Age window in which you are most appealing to strangers. Random people of all types will be very welcoming to young men up to around the Age of 25. People enjoy the company of youth and are very forgiving of pretty much any foibles and acts of stupidity a young person may commit.
When you get into your 30s as a man people will generally only welcome you if you have some material benefit they think they can get from you. In your 30s you are not cute or non-threatening anymore. So unless you are paying, it's unlikely random strangers will take much interest in you at that point.
So my advice would be to socialise with decent people as much as you can in your teens to early 20s and try to get accepted into a certain socioeconomic circle of people that can benefit your long term development. This is not a free ride though, you will be paying in ways that you won't really expect. But that's the excitement of youth and tackling the unknown.
