Yeah that is real smart. There is a reason there is a treaty against weaponizing space.
What stops America from stationing nuclear bombs above every Chinese city that can be dropped in an instant with no way to detect a launch or defend against it? Because this is what happens when China tries to put weapons in space. They will have nuclear bombs above them making sure they never step out of line again.

You think America will allow that? First country to get nukes stationed in space wins all wars forever.

Again, there is a reason there is a treaty preventing weapons in space. If China thinks they can do what they want, they'll quickly learn why it exists.

China already tested FOBS weapons years ago. And they showcased one during the recent parade too. These are essentially orbital weapons already.

https://space.skyrocket.de/doc_sdat/chinese-fobs.htm

Nothing came out of the US. In fact, these are Chinese reactions to SpaceX obviously being an overt US militarization of space, with how starlink is used in Ukraine to guide missiles and how the Starship will be used to deliver nukes to LEO (if it ever successfully flies, that is)

The US made a weapon along these lines in the 1980s. My BIL worked on it and said it was not feasible on his deathbed, but I think his employer has had a long time since to work out the kinks, that was the offensive side. On defense, clearly the US has had a long time to think about space warfare. Remember the space shuttle and the arm thing on it from Canada? They ran down a broken sat once, grabed it and put it in the cargo bay and brought it back for repair. Normies loved it but It had nothing to do with getting that shitty sat and fixing it and everything to do with showing our enemies that we could fly into the orbit of, chase down, and grab any shit someone throws into space like Roscoe P. Coltrane running down them Duke boys at 30,000 mph. "Que Que Que. Gunna git them Chang boys."

The huge LY-1 naval/ground laser weapon shown during the VJ-Day parade with its 300kW power will probably be a mere close-in-weapon system for such a space warship.

Megawatt levels of laser is required for the main array, which requires China to have breakthroughs in thorium reactors.

Coincidentially, China reported some of those.

>Humans and aliens, wrapped in two million, five hundred thousand tons of spinning metal . . . all alone in the night.

You may be thinking more of rods from god, which just involves dropping tungsten rods and letting gravity do the rest. Railguns are both extremely energy hungry and cause significant mechanical stress each time they are fired, both of which would be problems in space where the design margins are already tight and replaceability is low. Maybe lasers could be useful one the outer later of the object is stripped by kinetic weapons first?

yes, if I have ships and logistics literally designed to take our your entire navy then our force is superior
>The superdreadnought (SD) was a type of warship employed by most major space forces of the Post Diaspora era. They were the largest warships to be built by humans as of the 20th Century PD, with tonnage ranging between seven and nine million tons, and were grouped with dreadnoughts and battleships as "ships of the wall".
>The pod-laying variant (called superdreadnought pod-layer, SD(P), or "podnought") was a superdreadnought hull that had been modified to have a hollow core where it could store racks of missile pods, thus protecting them from proximity or "soft" kills. This also allowed a greater number or pods to be carried into battle, and podnoughts could "hand off" pods to other ships in the same formation to tow, although fire-control was still provided by the podnought itself.

They are not short range in space because there is no atmosphere to scatter them. Can you please focus and read. If you're talking about laser beam divergence, this is only a problem over millions of miles and can still be solved by tweaking the aperture. We are already using lasers to communicate with deep space satellites because they have virtually unlimited range. So, within the context of an orbital battle, yes, they absolutely are only limited by line of sight. I'm kind of detecting that fluoride stare here and that you only really want to meme rather than think, so probably my last reply to you.

You can't be naked in space. Your blood will boil under vacuum. All moisture will eventually evaporate, essentially turning you into beef jerky.
You'd be unconscious in seconds.
I think suits exist that are essentially non-stretchable fabric that prevents expansion and evaporation, but you still need a helmet over your head with atmospheric pressure.
That RedBull stunt where the dude jumped from the stratosphere had him wearing one of those. IIRC his glove tore and it injured his hand.

A missile would still be easier, but if it was just lasers you would need at least 10MW of sustained power output to overcome the radiators, reflective and ablative armor. The current crafts aren't generating that MWs of power to overcome the basic amount of shielding you need to survive in space, but maybe like 150kw. You can't really use nuclear reactors either because you have no real way to cool them other than slow radiation. Lasers seem cooler, but a missile or other kinetic weapons would be more achievable right currently

She's right about space. It isn't cold, it's a near-vacuum, so heat doesn't conduct at all. It needs to be actively dumped. Heating a spacecraft is the way to kill it. Rail gun is another but that uses massively more energy and requires ammunition which must be replenished.

This isn't China planning anything. It's just an X post. I wouldn't blame them for doing it though. It would be a mistake to weaponize orbit and announce it. They're not retarded.

That’s why the US gave Europe euro-communism and took over “defence responsibilities.” It’s also worth noting that the only reason the possibility of “Russian aggression” exists is due to decisions of the USA - The Wolfowitz Doctrine. You need a factory in space to do this unless they want to build it like the ISS where they launch bits and pieces over a decade and cost a bajillion dollars.

Even the most energy efficient (CO2) lasers are ~20% light power output out of total power consumption max, and chemical ones that could actually be used for high peak power weaponry are far worse. Considering cooking your opponent first as the strategy of choice then using a laser as your weapon is retarded, every joule of heat you could beam to an opponent is at least several you must dissipate yourself
