Many models throughout Academia are wrong "macro evolution" is driven by a combination of extreme solar radiation events and the collective unconscious of the species. The sun is not some giant proton-proton chain fusion bomb, but a liquid metallic hydrogen body acting as a gigantic plasma conduit connected to all nearby stars and ultimately the galactic core.
Light is information/energy. And when the galactic sheet, which swirls around the core in a sort of figure-8 motion, slams into the solar system every 12000 years or so, ripping away our Earth's EM shield, exposing us to supercharged cosmic "information". At these times the collective unconscious basically chooses what direction it wants to head in. Hence "macro evolution".
