I don't have any sympathy for Emiru at all. But the law is very clear. You do not assault people. And any venue that allows and covers up crimes happening under their purview is a serious problem. These no kangs protests are more civil than Twitchcon so far.
What he was saying about digital ID is simple, that these problems happening on Twitch and other websites not being policed by the websites where it happens are going to get the government to step in. The same thing happened to videogames in the 90s, there was a huge controversy over violent games like Mortal Kombat, and the US government told the ESA to do something about it or they would start banning and regulating game content for them. The ESA created the ESRB, and the government backed down.

Websites need to do better regulation of users making threats, and grooming children. These are directly against US law. If these websites refuse to take action on this, the government WILL take action.

The only reason we are seeing a push for digital ID is big tech wants that money. Already see a version of it with sign in with your Google account and/or link to steam account etc. I hate this dystopian idea of ID for everything online but when they make it one or two main corps and easy click click link it's going to be every where.
Like right now Steam knows the real ID etc of the bulk of it's users. If they bought games with a credit card VS paying cash for Steam cards. But there aren't real life repercussions for in game actions other than getting banned from a game. So the ID info doesn't mater.
