The death of Utopian Scholastic and Frasier-bane as the design language of society was the final death of the west. It meant we gave up on logic, reason and high culture as virtues

>Utopian Scholastic and Frasier-bane as the design language of society
Can you extrapolate on that?

Spaces like this don't exist anymore, instead you have some disgusting corporate memphis designed to demoralize you, deindividualize you and turn you into a soulless product

Utopian scholastic was a design philosophy that tried to fill children's spaces with high art and science in sort of a 2nd renaissance.

frasier bane is the term that has been applied to the design and architectural school that inspired it, think of frasier's apartment. It incorporated high art, artifact, antiques and beautiful natural products

When we turned away from it, we decided niggershines were more important than, hope progress and high culture as a civilization

I already go for this aesthetic anyway. It can still be had.

The two comfiest aesthetics. I remember the local "fancy" mall had this vibe everywhere, especially during the holidays, in the 1990s and early 2000s. Even the early 2010s you could still feel it, but it quickly became a shell of its former self.

Children's spaces used to look like this, I remember the store in the mall that sold telescopes, fossils, pinned bugs and chemistry kits. Think you could afford to buy that for you kids now?

Hurts doesn't it, the world and culture you grew up with is dead and you will never share it with your kids if you even get to have them

Crazy how it was still very popular until like 2007 all the way from the 80s

Well it may have had clear visual cues taken from modernist design, it was nevertheless a celebration of creating a society of greater values.

It was a lot more than a few decades, it is aping the victorian and resnescance spirit, the fact it is gone says a lot.

Modern memphis diversity inspired negro shit is cultural death

Fair enough. I'm still learning the aesthetic terms.
I think was more of an eclectic / Global Village Coffee House guy back in the 90s.

Design language, the ornamentation of Frasier bane/Scholastic utopian is a reflection of the ordered systems that make up philosophy or the universe and not just a maximalist design scheme meant to indulge the eye

God I miss this, I remember there used to be a store called Australian Geographic which had this exact vibe

The worst part is there's NO replacement at all in 2025 for kids or adults, the way most encounter science now is essentially contained to boring reading or something you are forced to do instead of the fun of pure adventure and discovery

I can respect that. There's definitely more of a "museum" or "academy" type vibe going on there.

Also interesting fact! Star wars episode one is partially to blame for the death of utopian scholastic's commercial viability. Eyewitness's publisher went bankrupt after overproducing an eyewitness book documenting the making of the Phantom menace

They deemed all of this imperialistic colonialist because browns can't stand seeing their cultures reduced to museum topics.

Yes, the published 14 million copies in the starwars line to go with the phantom menace and only 4 million sold which put them like 25million euros in the hole
