Nature is an ecosystem, if you remove one element other elements will fill its niche. Without gators you're going to get more deer jumping infront of your car and coyotes and big cats eating your pets. You don't have to like gators but just trust the people smarter than you that it would be an utterly horrible idea.

It would be pretty easy to make crocodiles and alligators extinct if you think about it.
If we were at war with Big Reptile they would be endangered within a few weeks, critically within a year. All you would have to do is allow hunting licenses for them year round.

Unless you do this globally and just keep on doing it for decades, at the most you can wipe them out of an area, perhaps a whole region but this things are reptiles, they have litters of other crock's, they live in the most inhospitable areas like swamps and shit and they seem to adapt pretty fast to pretty much anything.
You might drive them down to the point of extinction spending millions and millions of dollars but unless you can convince the Chinese, alligator dicks have magical powers or some shit, I doubt you can even drive their numbers down that much organically.
Also their hide has value and their meat is edible, no government will finance such none sense that's why they're still around.

The only seemingly possible organic way to drive species down to the extinction list is by convincing gooks part of the animal had medical powers that will give them erections, that's why sharks are in danger alongside other animals, only gooks have the power to drive animal down in to extinction organically
