You are being disingenuous, gold was used as money. Because it has certain properties, which made it convenient. Of course it's no longer relevant, because we have paper and digital money now. But gold is valuable in many industries instead. And it's just human nature to desire something tangible, so it's still relevant as a reserve asset with all its properties.
On other hand crypto is wasting electricity to create literally nothing. It has no use whatsoever. And still hasn't proven in what way is it superior to traditional fiat.
