Contentment is the absence of negative stimuli/feedback (or their reduction to tolerable levels. This should be the thing being pursued and then maintained. Happiness is a completely pointless feeling from an evolutionary psychology perspective, but people are bombarded with marketing making it seem like a desireable end goal. Happines, if it is felt at all, should be very brief, but memorable, and it should not be sought. People apply the label of happiness to a host of emotions or states that are in fact not happiness.

Happiness is by etymology only possible in happen stance, it comes and it goes. It's the emotional high of being more than just content with the state of affairs. Contentment is more akin to satisfaction. It's the long term positive emotional response to things being pretty predictably good in your life. Happiness is the coom, contentment is the afterglow.

Contentment and happiness are the same thing
Your slave masters tell you that they are separate things so that you will accept that being a depressed, lonely wage slave is normal. You are naturally supposed to be happy and content all the time.

This is an example of the false belief western goyim slaves are told to believe so that they think their terrible depressing lives and societies are normal and always have been normal.
He probably saw it on a jewtube video or jew article as well.

There's no such thing as happiness. This a level one buddhist lesson. Schopenhauer and lacan came to similar conclusions independently.

Having your needs met (happiness) with the belief that you can meet further needs later (contentment).

I like the cute girl you posted, but I'd like her better if she was wearing a bikini and dancing energetically with her tits bouncing.

>You are naturally supposed to be happy and content all the time.
No, as an animal, you are supposed to engage and manipulate your environment to extract the resources needed for survival, with an imperative to reproduce. Thats it. Contentment arrives when stressors are maintained at tolerable levels or eliminated entirely. Happiness as an emotional state, even if you could pin it down with a consistent definition, is almost always a pointless emotion at best and often is maladaptive in and of itself or through its attainment. Most often, in at least english, when people use the word "happy" they either are actually describing contenment or just making culturally appropriate noise to another human.

Happiness is fleeting.
It's a moment in time.
Content is acceptance of the state of you and your situation
