Call me a nigger, I try to get it as empty as possible so I effectively have to make the least trips to top up and waste my time.
Also a full tank is like 600-800km why would I top up so early. In the red it's often another 100+

Regarding your father's advice, that is not a good idea on modern cars, as they will effectively run dry when expected.

I fill up when the price is at its floor. Very few times do I pay full price.
As for the tank, sometimes it can get down to nearly empty.

The ubermensch test is still being able to service your car yourself, meaning fill a "sealed" trans fluid system, being able to get a plastic oil filter cap off without cracking it, knowing differential fluid needs to be replaced too, etc.

Everything is purposely designed to break and be non self serviced. Can't even change the headlights on modern cars, if the LED burns out you're stuck with a bill like picrel...

I used to only fill the car everytime it reached the reserve mode. So althought the computer claimed it had fuel for 100+ km, the car becomes very annoying reminding me every 5 minutes that i am almost out of fuel.

One day, the car started losing strenght even on 1st gear i couldn't reach 2k rpm, and there was a warning saying engine problems. But after a while the car would work properly again.
I took to the shop, and the guy simply told me, just drive it until the computer says you only have fuel for 20 km. The tank has fuel particles that petrified, and would stall the engine every now and then, because i kept filling way too soon.

Fucking cars men....i must buy an old volvo from the 80'sor 90's. Done with this modern crap

Occasionally, you should let your fuel tank run low.
Not to the point that your car is out of fuel or anything. But, fuel eventually spoils and if you just keep mixing new stuff in, you're going to have a more "Dirty" fuel mixture than if you just use up the old fuel occasionally.

A whiteness test is something mundane that you must do yourself, and holds no benefits, nor punishment for it, like replacing the smoke detector battery, returning the cart at the supermarket, placing the separator between yours and someone else's groceries. Stuff that you do to keep order and not inconvenience others.
