What's really a tragedy is he could have just decided chess sucks and he's quitting 100%. He graduated from Stanford. He was widely read and very well spoken, and very intelligent. He could get a job doing something unrelated. But he could see himself only as a chessplayer.
His behavior in his final stream, in the second half, looked very addictive.
