There's no point in hating people who are born that way.
Speaking as a person who was in a family with a severely autistic person, I'd comment in a few ways:
1. Calling people "retarded" isn't really accurate when describing the autistic. What they are is dysfunctional on a few select social skills...and perhaps other ways depending on the individual.
2. Labeling people is generally considered rude, but if a person is born with brain damage, they aren't likely going to recover from it. It's also rude to force their family to pretend that the situation is temporary. You're just washing your hands of the problem.
3. Autistics tend to be obsessive-compulsive. If you want to make your life hell, go on pretending that your chimping out on them is going to correct the situation.
4. Most of those diagnosed with autism today are more likely to just be latchkey kids that two-income parents wanted to stay latchkey but sedated enough to not cause problems.
There's really nothing to discuss here. If you don't ever have that shit dropped on you, you'll never understand and will likely go out of your way to make sure that nobody comes to you for help.
Done and done.
