Firstly, I love the Souls series entirely. Each piss me off at some point, but I return to every entry because they are fun. Dark Souls II filtered me twice. Coming from DS/DS3, playing DS2 clunky controls irked me and made the combat not so engaging. I did not mind the enemy placement and I admit I was the goofball for getting mad at the game for mechanics I did not understand at first (Soul Memory/ AGI lvl/ cheese tactics I missed). Playing ER: SotE made me miss the combat style of the older games, so after beating SotE, went back to play DS2 and holy fuck, did I uninstall after getting to ivory king with a strength build and getting btfo several times due to the little fucking ice helpers NOT freezing the gate. Having learned that freezing the fire gates was an RNG act, Ivory King to this day is the only boss I did not conquer. Currently on another run and having fun. 100% Sekiro and ER but sometimes a slower fight is just as fun as a challenging boss that spams attacks and has small windows (100% ER without using STR/ purposely breaking boss poise)
IRON PASSAGE WAS ABSOLUTELY HELL AS A STRENGTH BUILD (me being a dumb fuck not using arrows cause bows are gay). Learning that blue smelter demon was a 100% optional boss was the final hit to my soul that made me hollow cause at the time I was only playing for a 100% achievement run and thought it lead to a spell. Fucking PTSD Passage will put hair on your chest for sure lol.
Anyways, all the souls games are good. All them have caveats. Absolutely NONE of them deserve to be hailed as #1 and that is the hill I will die on. . . As for fashion souls, Faraam set is kino, but Hunter Set/ Soul of Cinder Set/ Havel Set are strong contenders. ER had SHIT fashion until SotE (Meesmer set + Spear + Spells are KINO)
