The only issue with the bomb shelter style bunkers is longevity. They're for immediate shelter when the bomb hits, then about a month after. The thing is, even in total nuclear annihilation, you only need to be underground for about a month. And even then, you can start to come out for a few hours a day after a few days.

If you've got multiple redundancies for air and water filtration, advanced septic, you can last much longer. Air scrubbers or artificial algae, space tech water filters can be had for under $30k. Electricity from a generator needs something substantial like a solar array or other renewable that doesn't create large amounts of waste product, that's the hardest part.
