Everyone's known this for millennia. Only religion has the potential to see past politics; and even then it still often fails to do so.
They want you to feel hopeless and disillusioned. They fear democracy falling out of their hands so they want to create the conditions required for fascism to take its place. Just keep calm and vote their creatures out of office from the municipal level on up. They don't have the manpower or the money to bribe everybody, despite their posturing. Money keeps getting tighter for them. Their support stretched ever more thinly.
