my guess is he swallowed too much of it along his career, and it inflamed those tiny bile ducts
which made those cells multiply like crazy to try and cope, until some mutated into cancer cells
and when you get cancer there, it's game over, always (his skin started yellowing, and in about a year, he was dead, without doctors finding exactly what he had before the last week)
