Great people, supremely capable and accomplished. Arguably have defined the post-Roman period up to WW2. Franks conquering France, Angles and Saxons in Britain, Lombards in Italy. At one point European nobility was almost synonymous with German nobility. Obviously their intellectual and military feats go without saying.
But were ultimately conquered and defeated. Today, probably the most cucked people to ever exist.

And people can debate who can we-wuz most as the Franks. They were Germanic from territory that is modern West Germany, Netherlands, and Belgium. Charlemagne's capital was in modern day Germany, and likewise his body rests in modern day Germany (Aachen). And the political legacy of Charlemagne's HRE continued in Germany
