Why would you do that?

Consult an immigration attorney (many free ones).
Figure out best path to apply for visa/greencard/whatever so I have some documentation pending at least in case anyone asks.
Rent and do odd jobs until then or just fuck off into the woods and build a cabin.

For me specifically I have a tech degree and lots of certs so I could get an H-1B (probably with almost the same salary as I currently have) while I work on the getting the rest in place.

It's really not that hard btw, any you also very rarely just wake up one morning and realize you're illegal.

If youre currently here illegally, then your best bet is to use the app and get paid to self deport, because its the only way you avoid getting hit with criminal charges. Then apply for citizenship legally.

There is no good option for being here illegally and staying here indefinitely. You will be found out and you will be kicked out and never allowed back.

If you know a trade and are good at it most contractors will pay you under the table, especially in states like CA or NY where the contractors are usually second gen latinos themselves.
Personally I was illegal for like a year and it was the worst year of my life, if I was illegal in the US today, I would just fucking leave, go back home, get an education and go anywhere else, european countries hand out papers like they are running out of them and make you citizens by 5 years, do that instead. I was illegal for a year and ended up getting shitty jobs here and there and surviving with less than minimum wage, though I ended up unemployed for 5 months and homeless for 3 of those months, was rough but hey what isn't.

it's insane how people take things for granted. just like people who live in the states for decades and never learn even rudimentary English.

I had some friends in university (a T10 uni, btw), who got masters degrees and worked on H-1B and E-B2s, continually re-upping them post-graduation, and you can only do this like 2 times for E visas afaicr (2x 3 year renewals). Then... they had to leave if they didn't have their GC by that point or transition to a J or O visa.

Mind you, some of these guys were extremely intelligent and hard working... and still got kicked out of the US after 6 years (they moved to Europe or back home, often to European nations desu) because they didn't take their visa status seriously enough.
