Samhain is a public holiday in Republic of Ireland, it's called October Bank Holiday (Lá Saoire i Mí Dheireadh Fómhair or Lá Saoire Oíche Shamhna so they got the day off. they are Catholic so they don't celebate it however, Protestants might though

It's okay Robert, you can come back. The majority of your audience has completely forgotten about it.

Europeans should do the original Halloween, with the Pagan Gods, there's plenty info on how they did those in the shires of England back in 700 to 1300

One of the Michael Myers Halloween movies retcons him as an agent of some secret society of Samhain enjoyers so I actually did know that.

OK. I've never seen those movies. The spelling of Samhain is confusing because there's W in the Irish language and mh together makes a W sound.

Halloween is fun. I didn't dress up but I saw a bunch of people in ridiculous costumes on the train today. It's the one day you can dress like a complete retard and no one will judge you. Some girls were literally just wearing garbage bags with hikes for their face and arms

It's dark, rainy and cold. Why shouldn't we have some fun ? Besides we have our own old tradition, Kekri, which is very much like Halloween. Only pumpkins are new, alcohol we knew how to consume before Kekri was stamped with Halloween images.

Halloween isnt american but america made trick or treating a global thing. Its originally an irish and Scottish thing where kids dress up like monsters and you give them treats. I think it symbolizes forgiveness or reintegration or something

in Scottish Gaelic the combination 'mh' is a 'v', ('gle mhath' "very good", would be pronounced 'gle va' because 'th' is silent at the end of a word) probably something to do with that in Old Irish which Scottish is more similar to. in Irish they turned 'v' into a 'w' but due to a lot of other lenition rules they couldn't write it as 'w' because 'mh' transforms into 'm' sound depending on the grammar. If you wrote it as 'w' then you wouldn't see why it turns into a 'm' sound elsewhere whereas you can with 'mh'

Anglo-Saxon paganism is just Germanic or better known as Norse paganism, the Thor, Odin, Freya stuff but with slightly different names. there are definitely people who do that.

Celtic paganism mostly revolves the God, Lugh. there is a festival called Lughnasadh for that.
