So many people try to analogize what the Ring is and get it wrong.
The Ring is a tool of slavery made by Sauron to rule the world by his commands. He put his command into the Ring and leveraged the divine power given to him by the gods to solidify it.
All the simple people wanted to think of ways to use it for "good" because they don't understand it's nature. They don't understand that it can only be used to make a system of slavery like Sauron devised. The books are… heavy? They can be a bit of a chore for most readers. Tolkiens writing spans from boring and nonsensical to unfathomably eloquent and changes between the two constantly. The beautiful passages are so good that you end up slogging through everything else to get that next high.
The movies miss a lot of the books truly high points. For example the tragedy of Boromir, Faramir and Denethor is absolutely heart wrenching in the book. The movie version is a pale mimicry.
The books kinda fall apart towards the end. Everything after Aragorn leaves Rohan feels far less polished.

The real treasure is once you dive into some of Tolkien’s other works and start to realize how absurdly in depth the Lord of the Rings really is. Tiny details and short passages you might have entirely glanced over in your first read through have entires chapters worth of backstory.

You should read Children of Hurin though. It’s not that long and extremely good.

Tolkein basically combined the entirety of European mythology into one big mishmash. Elements of Christianity, paganism, old world and industrialization, even the Hyperborean myths. It's all in there in a giant fantastical assemblage.
His direct motivation for writing what he did was because he hated the Norman Invasion for wiping out many of the Germanic folk stories that England used to have. He wanted to write these books to try and reconnect Britain with its Germanic folk past. He also really hated industrialization, and those themes are strong with the Isengard saga.

Sauron is an all-seeing eye (demiurge) who killed his master to take his place and tried to conquer the world.
To do so, he forged (created) a ring that binds all the rings of power (bondage of world orders).
An alliance of Men and Elves fought them and the King of Men, Isildur, cut the ring off of Sauron's hand, which destroyed Sauron's body and made it rupture. (It ended his world)
Cutting the ring of bondage is akin to breaking his own slave chains for him. He was set free and so was the world.

Then a hobbit found it, fishing in a lake. Lakes are representative of libraries of information, since they contain so many things sometimes so randomly, and he fished it up right there when it was ready to be taken.
The hobbit represents the common ordinary folk, and what did this common ordinary man and his common ordinary friend do as soon as he grabbed a hold of the ring? They fought for control over absolute power, and one killed the other.
In the Shire, that was the ultimate cardinal sin; nobody killed in the Shire. It was a humble common ordinary land of the folk with natural law and natural ways of doing things.
"Smeagol" did that, and the ring's magic turned him into a Gollum. A golem, literally.
Which makes Solomon's Ring the closest analogy from real life, and the Rings of Power Solomon's sigils/seals.

That doesn't mean Tolkien's work is hebrew ofc.
It's just more than British. It talks of the whole European world from his perspective with his worries and knowledge of it fueling the stories.
Of course the darker evil power of the East would be hebrew at the root.
Of course the fancy Austrians and their Italian territory are near derelict when the Polish winged hussars come to save them at Vienna.

Would you suppose that the 3 rings of elves and the 7 of the dwarves is another? Both are holy numbers in Christianity that adds up to the Pythagorean 10. Only they bring out the arrogance of the elves and the greed of the dwarves. The 9 rings bring out the wrath of men. 9 is a holy number in Norse mythology. The first 10 rings Sauron had little to no control of the users but he could watch them through the 1 ring. And it greatly changed the behavior of the Dwarf wearers to the point of near control. With the elves it is a crapshoot if Sauron can change them or not.

So basically in a pre internet sense. Gandalf is a repelled guy combing through libraries finding this stuff to warn people. Elrond is the guy able to remember reading something else from another book but he doesn't have it on him but knows what book in what library he borrowed it from decades ago once Gandalf shows him. Saruman never returns the books of secret knowledge and goes around destroying copies in of the same one in other libraries so nobody else can figure out what he is doing. Gollum is that moron who just forgot to return a rare book and thinks it is his. Those things the first 3 characters really do!

The ring refers to the desire to win completely. Men (referring to Aryans) are a weak race and they will have certain pattern behaviors. They need to be ruled by the law.

Liberal democracy is the best system but you cannot allow people to have gay sex because it will destroy the system (gays tend to be the kindest people, but if you allow gays to organize, they will push immigration, and then with the immigrants conservatives can't win the vote). And Aryan gays will be predatory just like other Aryans are in hunting their enemies.

Also, you cannot allow women to have the right to vote.

Once you theow away the ring, the desire to totallt vanquish your enemies, you win.

Ultimately, there is no failsafe mechanism to have a good society, you have to believe in God. And that is what Tolkien was leading to.

Along those lines, Gandalf is the wise old sage who knows better than to be tempted, Elrond is the blackpilled guy who's halfway given up, Saruman grew obsessed with power and lost his way in the forest, and Gollum is just a golem created in Smeagol's mind to make sure the ring stayed out of anyone's hands while Sauron rebuilds.

Go reread the appendix and the start of the book. The elves only knew that the one ring made people invisible because some elf broad accidentally got it on her finger when she picked it up in Celebrimbor's workshop before it was supposedly destroyed and it is tied to Sauron's power when he fought them 3000 years ago. They really thought they were 2 different rings until Gandalf and Saruman figured it out. They didn't know how dangerous it was to possess it.
