But AI is already helping fight child exploitation. Microsoft created PhotoDNA years ago, it creates a non viewable database of hashes of an illegal photo and even if it's pixelated or grainy, modified, resized, it will still flag it. Most cloud storage providers are required to utilize this tool (given away for free by Microsoft) to flag users. Google does it better, AI scans all images in the Android or Google photos customer and they were able to find MILLIONS of original content photos and videos (not yet in distribution or known to agents), because it is trained to find youth in undress, even parent's bath photos are taken for manual Google or NCMEC moderator review because who knows these days.
Windows 11 and TPU chips are paving the way for fighting exploitation. Windows 11 creates a fingerprint for a user, one that can be shared during criminal investigations or subpoenas and linked to websites, IP addresses, DNS, etc. Local accounts are done away with, OneDrive is required to back your files up. Now that it's on Microsoft's servers you consented in the terms & conditions that you now forfeit rights to that data. Everything from your cache to internet history is now on the cloud. CoPilot and Recall can use real time scanning to see if an external application or window (Eg. TOR, or private browsing tab) is displaying illegal content. TPU chips are the standard in commercial computing and PC/Phone builds. Linux will create a mass data leak through malware attacks and everyone will crawl back to Win11, Stock Google Androids, and Apple devices.
The skeptic in me kind of doesn't like the privacy aspect of it, but look at the number of arrests and the degenerates that still walk freely, instead of being locked in a prison. Once you become a parent, you are willing to sacrifice the little things to truly stay safe. Every one of these creeps can live next door or be a relative. Each one they arrest, the safer our kids are.
