Orban tries to play a risky game where he simultaneously acts like the GOP branch for Europe, while also trying to make himself the caesar and leader of the anti-Brussels faction of the EU which must at times criticize America for its damaging relationship to the continent. He even criticized it personally a couple of times which was surprising to see, but obviously very disappointing to the Heritage Foundation which was propping him up as a sort of an icebreaker against the EU and not a wannabe-caesar who's trying to make it right wing and stronger. This, by the way, is the exact same reason why the GOP will abandon AfD very soon, if they haven't already done it by backing Merz.
