Can someone explain to me why are they so common in the US compared with other countries? I've been reading reports of some of the more gruesome ones and holy shit. Do you think it has to do with more accesible firearms? Or is it a cultural thing?

Combination of factors, availability of guns is one but the greater is the interaction between our news media and spergs wanting to use that media to make a name for themselves. I think it's a culture/copycat crime thing. Lack of access to guns isn't gonna stop someone who wants to see mass deaths and has no concerns about the next day. The problem is people wanting people dead.
If you cut off the guns, the to be mass murderers will just find other tools to carry out their job: bombings, stabbings, poisoning , fires , becoming a disease vector, a sharp rock, slamming into people, etc.

Yes. After each major shooting there are clusters of copycat attempts that follow. It happens without exception and I can recall hearing about expert critics aggressively lambasting national news media practices as far back as 20 years ago. They called it a "media contagion" problem. Obviously there are other underlying factors that cause the performative suicides in the first place as others have mentioned but the high numbers of attempts and total deaths are propped up in large part by the national level reporting of what otherwise should be events only reported at very local levels.

In other countries, when kids get bullied they learn to fight back. But in the USA, we always do things bigger, so bullies get sprayed instead. Lesson here is to either not bully others or get ready to push daises before prom, kek. SSRI’s were approved in the mid 1980’s. The first major workplace shooting was in 1986. There was a flood of workplace shootings in the late 80’s and 90’s, but the media focused on the ones happening at post offices (giving rise to the term “going postal”).

SSRI’s weren’t approved for people under 18 until the mid 90’s, and that’s when school shootings became much more common.

I think we can prevent these tragedies from happening without resorting to restricting peoples second amendment rights. That starts with fixing a nihilistic culture enthralled with hating itself. It's unhealthy. You should be grateful for the gift of life, even if your life is shit in the United States. Despite its problems we have a solid quality of life that many other parts of the world do not.

Legalized prostitution so men can get laid more. We live in a heavily sexually depressed culture and guys WILL lash out if they can't express that part of themselves. I was mildly bullied and it felt like complete torture and I hated my life. And I wasn't even bullied that bad. Some other kids got it way worse than me, like why would you even want to live at that point? You're being sent to get humiliated daily and the teachers do nothing about it and even join in, and they punish the victim.
I guarantee some of the badly bullied kids in my high school would've shot up the place if they had access to guns. One of the kids even told me he wished he could get a gun so he could kill himself.

It's obvious when you find out school zones are disarmed victim zones.
In your country, crime is spread out over a wider area. Whether criminals use guns or acid attacks, the crimes are spread out. Not hyper focused on one small area. In the US, people looking for guns can get guns but people looking to protect the children with guns CANNOT. They are by law, disarmed.
Violence is no longer spread out over the entire country, they are now focused on the disarmed victim zones. There is no reason to bring a gun to a gun fight when you can bring a gun to a stapler fight. Why put yourself at risk when your objective is to harm others?

Another thing that's rarely mentioned is that public high school is now the closest thing we have to a coming-of-age ritual, the importance of which has been demonstrated in nearly every culture in the history of the world. And guess what - if you weren't popular, beloved, if you didn't meet your high school crush (and ESPECIALLY if you were bullied, treated like shit, made fun of) - you "failed" the ritual and you will never be a "true" man.
The whole system is fucked - we have to scrap it completely and start over.
