Men who have been married for a long time will generally decline quickly if forced to live single again, especially if it's because the wife died rather than divorce. For a high-profile guy like Massie it just makes sense to slot in a new woman in relatively short order.

Erika Kirk has less of an excuse as women can very successfully live without men.

The marriage institution may be a trap but it remains true that men emotionally benefit from matrimonious relationships far more than women do.
