I don't understand why modern society puts so much special emphasis and privilege onto children. They are absolutely fucking worthless to everyone until they are capable of basic manual labor and more often than not they are a headache even in that department.
Like not even 100 years ago it was quite a common practice for families to kill their own children if they weren't productive or showed signs of disability because everyone back then understood that children are literally fucking worthless for anything other than to be raised as a working adult.

This coddling and sheltering of children was already kind of weird back when I was kid but nowadays it's downright disturbing. It's like the vast majority of our society nowadays self-insert as children even though they are adults.
