Sam Altman has been floating and hinting at the idea of making OpenAI a publicly traded company. Sources are confirming to mainstream news that discussions etc are taking place behind closed doors.


The rumour is that it will be made public by the second half of 2026 and they plan on making the starting market price 1 Trillion USD.

Sam Altman claims that the company will make 100Billion a year by 2027. He recently told a reporter to shut up and that revenue was much higher when a reporter asked about how he could spend 1.4 Trillion with only 13 billion in current revenue.

Here are some unproven ideas:

- if dumb money joins in on that stupid IPO, it likely means they are going to sell their other stocks a bit before to free up some cash. You could profit from the swing by buying some stocks that appear to be dumped for no real reason. To optimize that strategy you would need to identify what stocks AI bulls are likely to own (but be careful because you might end up buying other bubble stocks).
- go short stocks of AI bubble companies (NVIDIA, etc.) You could mitigate by doing pairs trading strategies, where you go short NVIDIA but go long a similar company that's less exposed to AI (e.g. AMD)

But generally the best way is to just stay out of it and invest in diversified broad stock indexes.

The ai technology is legit but valuation of these ai companies is blown out of proportion. No way openai is $1t. They are not making any money and they have plenty competition that do. Sure, their models are best in the market. But due to 80:20 rule, you don't need models that good for most applications. (And I am saying it as ai developer using these models every day at work)
