It's over
American hegemony over the seas is over in case of a real conflict

These Poseidon can be travelling for months, years, or even waiting at deep sea level.

A giga explosion that the world has never seen could wipe out an entire American carrier strike group in the Pacific, with 0 dead civilians.

Soon there will be 30 Poseidons patrolling the seas

And who knows how many Chinese Poseidons too... another 50?

Your a fucking moron nukes are not magic I win buttons. They are extremely damaging to dense cities and wooden structures, but the effective blast radius compared to something like the ocean is laughably small. Whatever they are armed with doesn’t matter they’d have to get within spitting distance of a carrier to sink it.

Nukes are not anti military weapons they are strategic weapons designed to decimate civilian urban areas and not much else. Maybe hardened bunkers. The normal ones don’t even give off that much radiation either.

Nuking a carrier strike group is a good way to activate MAD and unlike Russia the usa population is very spread out and there are not enough nukes on this planet to nuke all of the usa unlike Russia while they're the biggest country on the world they're still a concentrated city cucks and nuking them completely is very easy.

What happens is that country renders the US military as useless and therefore the US loses its leverage.

Suppose that China invades Taiwan and the US rushes to protect it. Then China (or Russia) drops one of these, and the american carriers are destroyed in the Chinese Sea.

Oh, you got destroyed? Why? What were you doing here?? We didn't know, sorry.

Hmm I don't know anon that seems a bit far fetched. The US has a large nuclear arsenal and carriers are considered US soil so any nuclear attack gets a response in kind. There would be no talking about oopsies the fleet disappeared. The remaining 9 carrier strike groups and the submarine fleet would have a response for the hostile country as well. Not sure if we would lose all leverage. We may even gain leverage after showing the world how a country can completely disappear. Sorry anon, I'm just not seeing your outcome as possible.

Back to community college

Nukes are not marvel superhero weapons that thanos snap everything within 500 miles. They are similar to volcanic eruptions. There is the immediate explosion area that is extremely destructive, but the vast majority of damage is done in the larger concussive blast area which can be devastating to flimsy structures but targets underground or behind solid walls will probably be unharmed. Underwater is not much different.

You’d have to get very close to a carrier to sink it with a nuke. Even then they are extremely hardy ships and unless it somehow capsized or something it would probably be fine.

Really the scary thing about nuke torpedoes is the fact that I think they can trigger tsunamis by triggering landslides. There was some tsunami in Alaska triggered by a landslide that was 100 feet tall or something. Against a docked carrier that might be game over.

Carrier group ships only go together like in OP's pic for photo-ops. Under normal conditions they are spread hundreds of meters to kilometers apart. All ships in the carrier group have only 1 goal - to protect the carrier, which is a moving target, that can be deceptively fast in an ocean. Even aiming at one would be like trying to hit a squirrel in a forest with a BB gun. And then you might realize that the squirrel also has a gun pointed at you.

So what, again the central dense area there is larger than the size of germany because it contains lot more than just Moscow. Moscow isn't even on the picture because the actual pixels that Moscow occupies are cut off.
Further more even your own figures there should illustrate the problem. Moscow itself would require hundreds of nukes to carper bomb due to it's sheer size, it's extremely resilient for a city as far as nuclear defense goes.

Realistically speaking if nukes do get used, they will probably be used to decimate military targets FIRST. The cities come last. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed because Japan couldn’t retaliate in an equal manner. It’s different now that your enemy can wipe out your cities. So closer to the tail end of a war when an enemy has a heavily fortified position that can withstand drones, artillery and bombers, a nuke might get used.
