Why are the normies and leftists that are yelling about and protesting for Palestine completely quiet about Sudan where innocent civilians are literally getting massacred to the point experts are calling it a genocide and have a higher death toll than gaza despite going on for only a little longer?

they simply have feelings for the things they're told to care about, by institutions such as the media, entertainment, politicians, education, etc.

Because it isn't taboo to protest the warcrimes in Sudan. The reality is that in America and the UK, saying the wrong thing about israel will either get you investigated by the state or fired. It's a bit like how GG spawned out of Zoey Quinn. As Rob Florence notes, nepotism and client journalism had been an issue in the gaming press for a decade but people only really gave a damn when it centered on a political flash point.

At the same time, that doesn't make GG illegitimate just because it was a backlash to nepotism and a censorious culture. Morally you can argue it should have happened sooner but political movements aren't just a product of morality, environment, incentives and pressures all play a role in what becomes salient too.
