im telling you this is entirely due to the big beautiful bill. People get the ick when you have senators pushing for things that by their own analysis will kill american citizens.

Trump won on an america first platform and convinced the common man that they were america. He won because the downtrodden trusted him to actually fix things. Doing things that harm those very people by making their life more complicated and making it feel like the government is out to get them instantly destroys their trust.

Texas republicans have always been a completely different party from the federal republicans. Texas republicans have always been the communist roastie version of the republicans. They were behind the “ban video games” push in the 90s, they were the ones who first made going either 1mph over or under the speed limit a misdemeanor arrestable offense (yeah, that passed in texas too). They also made it legal for roasties to solicit and rape kids in texas, but simultaneously made it a sex crime with registration for you to pay for a hooker. They are THE PREMIER israel-firster demographic in the nation.

They’re communists in cowboy costumes.

The country is already 45 percent White non-hispanic, left or right they both serve Israel to the end, a democrat will most likely win in 2028 unless Trump runs again or something crazy like that, but that would cause a major uproar.

you can do the math yourself. Just compare californias medicaid (medi-cal)s total budget and divide it by the number of people on it, then compare that to the national average of healthcare cost. Medi-cal is around 20% cheaper last i checked, and that includes the cost of running the associated beurocracy, whereas the private numbers we have exclude that so its going to be even cheaper.

We also know this from the past, where the entire argument lobbyists made against allowing medicare to negotiate prescription prices was that it would be too hard for private insurance to compete with medicare since they are so big they have way more leverage with pharma companies. This is why in the past medicare was barred from negotiating and instead had to use a number based off of what private insurance was getting. Trump put an end to this in his first term, saving medicare a lot of money.

So we have one side saying private healthcare can not compete with government healthcare so we need to kneecap the government, and the other side saying private healthcare can not compete with government healthcare so we should have government healthcare.

The only controversy is ideological. The right is willing to charge the american people more money overall for healthcare just so it can stay private since that fits their economic ideology.

the one where healthcare is so overpriced in this country they needed to make ACA in the first place.
not to mention all the changes to medicaid
ACA is bad because its a stupid attempt to use private healthcare in a government capacity. So yeah, the insurance companies can scam the government through it.
Nobody is saying ACA is good, until they fix healthcare costs though its required. They have to fix it before they stop subsidizing the retarded quick fix.

That’s a cute opinion, but you seem to be under the impression that Medicaid/medicare doesn’t dominate the healthcare sector. It sets the price for the non subsidized healthcare.

The government doesn’t spend money efficiently because it has no incentive to crack down on scams, embezzlement, and just wasteful spending due to lobbying contracts. It’s absolutely foolish to think a government that allows lobbying will ever spend money more efficiently than the private sector.

How old are you? The ACA is what drove up healthcare in the first place. Everyone being on insurance removes any incentive for the market to keep prices affordable.

I'm not sure why people are all that shocked about Virginia.
All those cuts to federal workers? Virginia is a hotbed of federal workers. Those people would vote for anything that hurts the GOP right now. Then the right literally ran a never trumper.
And as far as New Jersey goes? They've had 1 Republican Governor in in the past 25 years.

what is your argument? i just proved it would be cheaper overall if the entire country was on medicaid. Thats not even an ideal solution, it just goes to show how fucked everything is.

Any argument you can make can be responded to with 'and despite that, it would still be cheaper than what we are currently doing if we let gavin newsom run the entire countries health insurance'.

There are surely better alternatives, there are plenty of ways to bring things down way more than 20%. The point is we are so omega fucked and messing with a third of the countries healthcare before doing anything to fix it is not going to win you any points.

The republicans dont even have a healthcare plan. When asked what exactly they want to do they scramble to come up with a few generalized ideas.

No, you didn’t. You made claims and arrived at a conclusion based on your own claims.
My argument is simple: Medicaid removes any and all incentive for actors in the healthcare industry to reduce prices, since ultimately the government is picking up the tab and the government does not have a system to deny claims. You yourself have demonstrated why the government will never deny claims, since any who do so will be accused of trying to kill Americans.

Incorrect. You are just the vehicle to deliver tax dollars into private hands. Your healthcare is expensive because the government is tactfully moving public funds into the private hands of the healthcare corporations, whom the politicians are heavily invested in.

This lesson was demonstrated during Covid when our government decided to pay premium price for the Covid vaccines.

im not pro aca, im pro single payer.
its also not what drove it up in the first place, it could have made them higher sure, its giving private industries an easy way to scam from the government, but it was a response to the already higher prices in the US than anywhere else in the world. Thats why it existed in the first place. That is directly the governments fault. Its their fault for allowing it to get that way and helping it get that way.

what im saying is in our current setup there are people who depend on the subsidies in aca. Right now we have a sort of equilibrium where people are getting healthcare somehow. 45 millions through aca, 70 million through medicaid. Thats a third of the population. You need an alternative solution to healthcare in place before you pull the rug out.

The republicans solution seems to be just cut funding, make aca cost more for people, kick people off medicaid, and let the rest of the system go on as it currently does. That is not a solution that is going to get those 100 million votes.

Take Covid for example. Why exactly did our government pay premium price for the covid vaccine? Do you honestly expect American politicians to EVER get lower prices for drugs when they are all invested in the pharmaceutical companies?

You simply don’t understand the issue. Giving the government sole responsibility for healthcare means the government picks which corporations profit from healthcare. that article outlines a bunch of ways medicaid costs more than it should.
It does not address at all the fact that despite all that, it costs less than private healthcare.

If you sold medicaid as a private insurance and let people just buy into it and kept everything else the same, they would be paying less than they are currently paying/is being removed from their paycheck for health insurance.

If the entire country did this america as a collective whole would spend almost 1 trillion less on healthcare yearly.

private insurances independently negotiate what they pay. There is no such thing as them having to pay based on what medicaid pays.
Its not like we could get our healthcare cheaply if not for medicaid or insurances just wanting to pay a lot more money. The cost of equipment, pharmaceuticals, doctor shortages, etc, all raise the healthcare costs in the US. Negotiation isn’t the right word since there is no negotiation. The insurance companies tell doctors what prices to charge and they do so.

So again, the money these companies get from Medicaid largely dictates the going rate for healthcare services. We do not have a private sector that is independent from the public sector spending. It’s the same industry.

Some private insurance companies when negotiating deals with healthcare providers do not allow those providers to charge the lower prices they have negotiated up front. Its like they must have a high sticker price and just give the insurance a permanent sale on it.
While an individual person can try to negotiate down with a 'take it or leave it ill just go bankrupt' strategy the pricetag is higher.

That’s not how it works. Providers are contractually obliged to offer the negotiated price to patients with insurance.

For patients without insurance, the provider can actually charge a lower rate since they don’t have to share with the insurance companies. Insurance inflates the price of healthcare.

Insurance companies have many people whos only job is to see to it that they pay as little as possible. Its medicaid that spends less effort on this and just cuts the check. I know this first hand, its way rarer to encounter unanticipated insurance hassle with medicaid. Yet despite this, despite medicaid caring LESS than private insurance on penny pinching, they end up costing less overall because they do not need to make a profit for shareholders.

You don’t seem to understand what a contract is. Yes, the insurance company is willing to pay more than the individual payer. No, the insurance company isn’t interested in keeping costs low because they have deals with the pharmaceutical companies that help them manage costs.

You simply don’t understand how industry works nor how these large companies operate. This truly explains why you see no issue with single payer.
