How dystopian do you see the near future getting?
AI and robotics, cloned pets, slime mold architecture, brains grown in jars that live in butterfly simulators, etc are here and will become more accessible over time

Currently, Scientists basically grow human brains the size of peas (roughly 10,000 neurons strong) in labs from stem cells and make them play butterfly simulators and pong. The brains are rewarded/reinforced with positive stimuli and all that jazz.

It seems like the organoid in the above video “experiences” the world via the simulator.

This is in its infancy, and will only get bigger and more advanced. What are the political and ethical implications of this? Will they be used in wars, be treated like slaves as they reach larger sizes and sophistication etc?
