There is no need to adhere to any rules. Hinduism doesn't have a 'strict code of conduct'. Only low IQ brained people need a strongly codified faith system where they are explicitly told what to do - like not eat pork, not drink alcohol, stone and behead woman if she doesn't wear her burqa properly, kill gays indiscriminately, etc.
I call myself a Hindu, but I never go a temple, there is no strict rule or code of conduct. Nothing is inherently good or bad in Hinduism. For e.g. killing a man with a knife can be bad from his perspective, but good from yours. Morality doesn't exist. Helping a man dying of thirst by giving him water maybe good from his perspective, but harmful from yours. After drinking water, he might stand up and kill you, he maybe your enemy. I do what I please, no God or moral system judges me, the only people I am truly good to are my mother and father, everyone else is here for me to take advantage of. That is my philosophy, and a good number of Hindus behave like this too. We don't care about any verbal insults you hurl at us, because we don't see them as "insult". For example, you can make a muslim go mad by putting a bacon strip on a quran, but you can't make us Hindus go mad by even destroying a whole ass Shiva temple. Because we know our Gods aren't real, they're icons, stories, myths of a lost past.
