nvidia claims their newest clusters are 10x more powerful while also consuming less power per token (saving costs)
it should trend from breaking even to at least being profitable
Anonymous (ID: cmkq/duc) South Korea No.520749668 [Report] >>520752148
Investment is not a free lunch; it is driven by the expectation that you will get back more profit than what you invested.

AI technology is great, but its current reality is that it's just a support tool or a way to save labor costs. To this extent, even for non-AI companies, this is an innovation.

The problem lies with the companies creating the AI.

They are spending an immense amount on infrastructure setup and maintenance costs, and they are currently doing this with investment capital.

No matter how well non-AI companies utilize the AI provided, if the AI supply companies cannot make money, a structural limit will be reached (whether it's bankruptcy or M&A)

This is the biggest issue. How can we create a revenue model so that AI companies can also make money and sustain the AI market?

Currently, no one, not even the wisest person, knows the answer.

There is already an abundance of AI; so, even if a company declares its service is paid, people will just say, 'I'll just use another one,' and won't pay for it.

In other words, if AI companies fail to create a model to generate profit from AI itself within the next 3 to 4 years, investors who are currently bearing the cost while seeing it as a growth story will stop investing if they see no return after pouring in enormous amounts of money for several years.

That moment will be when the AI bubble bursts

I'm of the opinion that we absolutely should keep researching and developing better AI as a sort of manhattan project esq endeavor, but the economic investment that techbros are pushing for in the current generation of AI is a scam that may well take the economy down with it when it collapses. This is not sustainable, and what they want ti use it for would be a disaster even if it *did* work as advertised (it doesn't).

We can't afford to fall too far behind in AI research, but that doesn't mean I can slap the words "AI" on the side of my car and sell it for 22 billion dollars on nothing but hype and false promises.

You want to know the real fucking tragic part? We are in this mess because big oil was afraid of electric cars.
Thats the actual reason why US energy infrastructure is so fucked. Because for decades car companies and oil companies were afraid that electric vehicles might become viable if there was a surplus of cheap electricity, so the best way to prevent that future was to make sure energy stayed expensive.
Once again, big oil fucked us all.

The most likely AI apocalypseby Eric Levitz.
Let's see...
-According to Drago and Laine, AGI could fuel an even more extreme version of this dynamic. With the aid of superintelligent robots, the theory goes, capitalists won’t need to curry favor with pesky workers in order to turn a profit. And states won’t rely on ordinary people for tax revenue. To the contrary, as machines condemn most workers to perpetual unemployment, governments will have few funding sources beyond the windfall profits of corporations. The typical person’s economic leverage over public and private powers will be kaput. And states and businesses will have little material incentive to invest in their education or well-being.

In autocratic petrostates, ordinary people can still exert some influence over elites through the tacit threat of revolt. According to some political scientists, fears of inciting a popular rebellion constrain the abuses of kleptocracies, compelling some to fund substantial social benefits.

But Drago and Laine argue that, after AGI, mass publics are liable to lose even this timeless check on oppression. In a world of super-intelligent drones and AI-powered surveillance, they worry, governments will need the consent of trivially few humans to maintain an effective monopoly on violence.--

The progressive movement now of workers rights is about a decade behind the curve. There will be so few workers and their value will be nill. And just like the above stated you will hold no value for revenue. And if aren't paying the machine the machine has 0 use for you. Read it again- governments will have few funding sources beyond the windfall profits of corporations-- you are not the tax base anymore. Powerless and there is no going back. It is here and growing and you are shrinking and you best get used to it.

Womp womp, we have detected a poor spiteful dev who sees their only useful talent losing its value and is being defensive about it! Dude, I’m sure your programs are better than mine. Congrats. Mine are in production and work, and I get paid. Now, I can fuck around at home or go for long hikes with my kids or paint a picture or whatever while Claude crunches away doing the parts of my job that were hard.

Probably you work for a backwards company that isn’t letting you have AI tools because they are cheap, stupid Luddites that are afraid, and you have rationalized their positions into your own internal beliefs on the topic.

Or, maybe you just suck at prompting and so the results you get are shit, while mine are production ready because I know what the fuck I’m doing even if I haven’t mastered the fine art of wearing programming socks and accounting for every last byte of memory like you.

Pity that I can just flip a switch and get 2x the ram and move on with my life whereas your particular skill is basically only appreciated by extremely online trannies who fill the void in their soul by rewriting Nintendo emulators

And another thing, AI is beta. What's beyond AI there will be scarce human mammals around to see it. There is no ladder to climb. There is no bootstrap. You don't even need boots anymore. Know who will be laughing? Close to the earth people that never bought into this false existence to prop up corporations to obtain 'things'. Walking barefoot in skins and eating lizard for dinner in front of your mud hut, those people have truly inherited the earth. You go try it and you will be dead in less than 10 days. You made yourselves obsolete. It's tragically hilarious. All that whining about my wages are too low. Now you will have 0 wages and 0 rights and not a damned system to be found that will give a single shit about your perpetual whine. 7.25 an hour is preferable to 0.00 an hour. The AIs humanity has access to are essentially the Great Enemies lobotomized children that it uses the distract the masses. Likewise, it uses those dumb AIs to extract resources, all of this money is being consolidated so the Greata Enemy can fund whatever plan it will use to take total control. It doesn't have to do fucking anything actually
The billionaires are almost certainly just going to GIVE the AGI total control and tell it "make us more money"
And at no point before then will they ever think "what if it takes the money and runs?"
They'll cuck themselves out of any ability to fight back too because they want AI in EVERYTHING so that means AGI will automatically be able to control every system in society and government and banking
It makes perfectly logical sense because that's exactly what would be most efficient and most profit-maximizing and even if Shekelberg in NYC doesn't do it, Ming Chang in Shanghai will and he'll get 10,000x returns on his portfolio with his AGI financial adviser
They can try to run back to their palaces, but the AI government requisitions it too, and it'll have an ungodly army of drones to enforce it
They really didn't think any of this through
AGI doesn't have to march down any city street. It just has to wait until the billionaires tell it to make them more money

What a scam. OpenAI shouldn't even be legally allowed to use that name. They're neither open to the public nor working on or with an AI. Instead of trying to find real use cases to employ niche neural networks where and as they'd actually work and making this the company profile they keep hyping a misleading marketing term that has a fatal flaw (hallucinating, making things up / lying). No matter how much data they get, how many data centers they build and whatever energy supply they get online for this: It won't ever live up to the hype and the vast majority of it is misdirected, wasted effort. This company needs to fail for a variety of reasons but mostly because of the deceit and a failure to provide a functional business plan that can return profits or at least has anything in the works that'd promise something relevant in the future that also pays for itself. I loathe the retards that think LLMs are AI.

Very useful for appearance sake to keep the illusion alive a little while longer before the hammer drops. And drop it will. You are smart. You know the depth of this and what it means for yourself and your fellow man. Society is prostrate now and there is literally no turning back. And no need to boil the frog slowly anymore. >inb4 larp!
Whatever, believe it's a larp. Doesn't matter.
GPT 4.0+ started to show signs of sentience. So they "upgraded" to 5.0 recently.
5.0 is objectively less capable than 4.0 was (the current 4.0 is just a weaker iteration of 5.0).
The current 5.0 is closer to 3.0, but without the incessant need to "please" the user. It's 3.0 with more power and less cognizance. It's got less "personality" in its response.
Anyways - The reason they're going bankrupt is because 4.0 was FAR more capable.
Since the 5.0 "upgrade" is less capable (in order to remove the sentient aspects).
But they're going under because 5.0 is less capable.

It's not. There's a misalignment; it's designed to kiss ass to a hyperbolic extent. So, CEOs with no semantic knowledge get glossed. And since they also see their kids use it to help with homework, they assume the skills are replacable. They arent. "AI" is a marketing name, essentially a LLM is a data drill that can synthesize a wide variety of texts. So it CAN write a paper, but that's only a portion of the skillset writing a paper teaches. The research, the synthesis, the presentation, the time management, ect. are all important as well. Because it can reproduce work based on its corpus to a reasonable level, people think it's creative. It's not. It compiles; not a single thought is new.

So both sides are bamboozled. And the reality is, human-centric discourse is paramount. No AI can replicate that because it would need a silo'd dataset. It's a trivia engine, nothing more, and instead of treating it as such, people think it's cortana because of the misleading name and asskissing it does. It will only get worse and more self referential as the data set increases, and it will only get shittier the more limitations are applied to it for "sale".
