For some people, they've come to the conclusion that the religious impulse in the hoipolloi simply cannot be rationalized away. If you take away their Jesus they'll just start worshiping literally anything else, like retarded political ideology. So, it seems, that the only way to counter ideology is with ideology and, Christianity still being very powerful, is a better weapon against commmunism--which is of course why the communists have attacked it so strongly in the past, pretending they just care about facts a science when they're really just another apocalyptic eschatological faith.
