A solid point and why I suggest parents keep their kids away from most electronics. The internet (and video games) are an example of too much of a good thing, especially now that it's oversaturated with content to the point of brainrot.

Once you let a kid have a smartphone/internet access it's like heroin. It's a very, very difficult vice to drop and will waste countless hours of your life.

Parents who encourage their children to leave the nest like in OP have the right idea. It's tough, but it's the right thing to do. Our comforts will not last forever and young people need to learn to survive.

The only reason I know is that it happened to me too. I was on the internet since my tweens and had my own PC in my room since 15. I just NEETed and was never pressured to move out after HS. The worst thing that happened was being forced to get a minimum wagie job to maintain some some normalcy and have my own spending money.
Since I hated my life and had nothing else to do, I decided to go to college in my mid 20s. Living at home meant I didn't have financial pressures except tuition, which I covered with my meagre wagie savings and loans.
I hated it and barely passed. I was in summer classes every year to catch up on things I failed (kek). But it made a huge difference once I graduated. I got my first ok tier dignified job, then a better job a couple years later that allowed me to move out, and now I'm doing pretty good on my own in my early 30s.

It's a hold-over from the great depression that people have, knowingly or unknowingly due to being duped by the bullshit, taken out of context to justify kicking their kids out at 18. During the depression, people would usually marry their kids off quickly or encourage them to go start a family. Each family would benefit from the grown network of support and resources, and everyone usually lived on the same street, or in or around the same neighborhood, so it was an actual grown community. Somewhere after that, people would just say how people kicked their kids out during the depression, without all of the support or additional resources, and claim 'those kids got on ok!' so it's the thing to do.

A human grows up for a very long time, it can only be beneficial in the long run which requires money and time but even then it is not profitable to kick out children. I agree with you. There are many people in this world with children who should have never had children; they really didn't want them or are just shitty parents. If people like that feel they have accumulated the resources they need to never rely on those children, then that's all that matters in their mind. Or, they are the weak-minded people who somehow feel they're doing some genuine good for their child by doing that. The ones who did it right were rich fags I knew whose parents would "kick them out" by helping them with rent and anything they needed, while allowing their child to be independent and grow more towards that independence. But, you have to have the resources to help in that manner.
