Yet the second part of this statement is patently false!

Any Muslim will confirm that Muhammad holds the highest station in Islam. While Muslims profess love for Jesus and Mary they are just ranked the same as any other pious people that Muslims love - Noah, Abraham, David, Moses, etc. All of these for Muslims are UNDER Muhammad and Muhammad is considered the greatest and most righteous man who ever walked on earth.

In fact most Sunni Muslims consider Abu Bakr and Umar to be above Jesus as well. Any Salafi or Sunni will confirm that to you.

So yes, while it's true that Muslims and Christians share many commonalities and they are closer in that respect than the Jews are, it's still completely wrong to claim that "Muslims love Jesus just as much as us Christians". Any Muslim who elevates Jesus above Muhammad and considers him better than Muhammad has left the fold of Islam and any Muslim confirms this. They MUST affirm Muhammad as the best man and the best of all Prophets.
