Me and my family own 14 rental properties in the NYC region and we have been able to thrive a lot in the past few years even being able to grow our rent price to over double in under 5 years. Business has been booming for us and it was not that hard to evict tenants either when they don't want to pay rate we say and we could say they broke something then not need to give them their deposit back pretty easily. We don't repair anything either we just pressure them to leave by making their life more difficult, it's my property not theirs, they got to live by my rules.

This communist it looks like wants to stop us from raising rent and is even threatening to take our property if you do things he considers bad this is FUCKED up. This is why I voted for cuomo. I don't feel safe with an antisemite like mamdani leading my city. I am Jewish too and this asshole hates Israel, pisses me off. I am already concerned about wearing my kippah near these terrorists supporting "Palestine" (there is no such thing, it is judea and Samaria) supporters who all support mamdani and he will empower them more! I am thinking of moving down to boca raton in Florida where the rest of my Jewish family lives it's easy there to do the things we do with properties up here. I am willing to stay for now cause I have seen a lot of billionaires want to fight this commie so they might be able to get him removed then cuomo can take over he was great for us landlords, Jewish people and big business people. Cuomo supports Israel too he's based. He even went to visit the city I grew up in Israel before it was pretty cool to see and he's been to my synagogue too a few years ago, I took a photo with him there.

I definitely do think the answer is more government-owned housing. Singapore has something like ~70% public housing. Ideally you would do it with new construction, not seizing anyone's property. In NYC that's probably not so clean with how dense it already is.
