America is losing all its talent
>Harvard Chair of chemistry and "top chemist in the world in 2000-2010" was paid like shit
>accepted money from a Chinese talent program ($100k)
>didn't disclose it to the Trump Admin
>Trump DOJ wanted him in jail for espionage
>got off with 2 yrs of supervised release and 6 mths of house arrest for tax fraud and lying to feds because of cancer
>was stripped of all his academic titles and couldn't get a position in the US
>is now a professor at Tsinghua Shenzhen University and wants to co-create a "global scientific hub" in Shenzhen
all of this because the richest country on earth can't pay their top scientists lol. Did you know that first year quants make more money than Terry Tao, one of the top 5 living research mathematicians?
How does the US expect to keep on leading science if its rival is willing to pay 10x better wages?

Talent? That's stretching it. These people are mediocre at best. Can you name anything significant they've done in their lives? We don't need so many scientists. It's time to go back to the age where science was done by real geniuses in solitude funded by wealthy private individuals.

Havard is a private university. The federal government doesn't set the salaries at Harvard. The school has an endowment of $57 billion. They were just being stingy jews.

Did you know that the only way to make money is to move money from one bank account to another while shaving some off for yourself? If you're paid to move trillions of dollars around, obviously there's more to shave off than if you're a mascot who's paid to attract a few million in tuitions and grant money.

Liberals got owned that's all that matters.

>>520922234
Yeah these people are low IQ, we need to send more money to Israel and ice, they will make sure science advances. We need to defund the remaining science that occurs. Military power in the middle east is more important than science

have fun with losing all your talent to China who'll use them to build up their military
>funded by wealthy private individuals
doesn't happen outside of the simons foundation btw.
>where science was done by real geniuses in solitude
never was the case kek. Even someone as genius as Grothendieck wouldn't have achieved nearly as much without Serre, Weil, Deligne, etc. And that's math, where all you technically need is a notebook and pen.
Again, your country is losing all dominance in science all because you thought you could get away with paying scientists like shit and now are surprised when China gives them a livable wage. The H1B visa is literally for exploitation and grad students are basically slaves with it.

Retard, he's referring to the Mansfield Amendment which severely restricted the military from funding scientific research, specifically research not directly applicable to military functions. If it weren't in place, some of those trillions spent on unlimited wars in the middle east may end up in the hands of those who help your country develop and remain dominant

Don't kid yourself. None of these academics know a thing about building a weapon or anything of any real value. They're just experts at churning out worthless "research" papers which their fellow scammers can cite to give an illusion of real research.

Why do they all go to china? Why would you want to be surrounded by chinks and surveilled by hyper advanced visual ai labeling every second of your life?

I get that its easy pussy for greasy bald old men but how haven't you sorted your mind out by your 60's as a scientist?
Anonymous Unknown No.520922245 [Report] >>520922246
>>520922243
no, retard, learn to read. I'm saying even geniuses like Grothendieck benefitted much from collaboration. Incidentally, his later work as a hermit wasn't even nearly as impressive and even Deligne expressed 0 interest in reading the mathematical notes of his final years because he was entirely divorced from the mathematical community.
"le lone wolf basedyyentistt!!" is a meme perpetuated by pop-sci articles and movies. It's not a real thing.

a good scientist is neither a lone wolf nor a professional research paper churner, is this really that difficult to understand? Grothendieck didn't just benefit, he depended on them. Serre in particular, because unlike Grothendieck, Serre was very well read in the mathematical literature and helped him from going astray. Even Grothendieck admitted that.

In any case, even if we were to talk about mathematicians who'd fit into the category of "lone wolf scientists" better, many of them are also leaving the US. Terry Tao is considering it, Gaitsgory has in 2020, many of the top mathematicians are already in Europe or never left lol.
France has got 13 field medalists, just 2 short of America, despite only having 68 million people, almost 1/6'th of the USA, and not even nearly as much soft power. The US just isn't good at producing talent

Only because of the mass import of professional paper churners and the bureaucrats who help keep the scam of modern research alive.

>he kept his own work hidden for 20 years
and probably stagnated science for 20 years because of that. What's wrong with sharing your progress with other researchers? At worst, you'll find nobody that shares your vision and continue doing your thing, at best you'll find collaborators who help you realize it quicker and better

Lol, his work was more impactful than the work of grothendieck and others by several orders of magnitude. If that's what stagnation can look like, I'll gladly take that.
>What's wrong with sharing your progress with other researchers?
Because then you'll have a community which prides itself in and values the sharing of ever more minute, totally worthless "progress" over producing actually significant work.

Kicking out criminals and economic migrants is a net positive to the pool of science money.

Which we could then use to build a geodesic terrarium around Israel to prevent it from abusing and spying on the rest of civilization. After stripping out all of the old biblical artifacts and importing them to American museums.

Newton was just like those flyover redneck hickz from Alabama who are hiding 20 years of research in their basement. They are so much better than Harvard, MIT, Yale, disgusting liberal nonsense.
If Terrance Tao leaves (because he's a disgusting nonwhite subhuman liberal scientist) america will be richer for it. Haven't you reported him to ICE yet?
We'll get another newton from the redneck wheat fields of Mississippi any century now.

Further proof that """Academics""" are complete fucking morons.

I'm so smart, I'm broke!

Another nail in the "Harvard = Good!" meme.

Funny how they love the "Free Market" until their own faculty take part it in it for themselves.
